Welcoming The Holiday Season With Another COPD Tune From EFFORTS’ Ann Lornie

turkey

My heart was broken, on that first morning
The doctor had spoken. Here’s what I heard:
Your lungs are failing, they’re just a token.
You must stop smokin’ - too long you have erred.
.
Bad habits broken, common sense dawning,
I had awoken and wanted to thrive.
These days I’m singing, and walking each morning.
EFFORTS gets praise because I’m alive.
.
I’m breathing better, yes, it astounds me
Now that I’ve found me an exercise gym.
I’m getting healthy, the fat’s disappearing.
[Wow, did you see the muscles on him!]
.
I now have the pleasure of doing some cleaning.
Laundry has meaning, is this the new Ann?
I used to hate it, but now I can rate it
As something I do, just ’cause I can!
.
Here comes the sunlight; it’s a new morning.
Life can be fun, right? Seizing the day,
Full of elation no sign of yawning,
Grateful to EFFORTS, I’m living this way.
.

From Wikipedia: “Morning Has Broken” is a Christian hymn with lyrics written
by Eleanor Farjeon (1881–1965). Written in Alfriston, a village in the south
of England, in 1931, it can be found in the hymnals of many denominations.
It has often been erroneously attributed to Cat Stevens, who recorded a
popular version of the song on his album Teaser and the Firecat. The tune to
which it is normally sung is called “Bunessan”, based upon a Gaelic melody.
Before Farjeon’s words, it was used as a Christmas carol with lyrics which began
“Child in the manger, Infant of Mary”. The English-language Roman Catholic
hymnal also uses the tune for the hymn “This Day God Gives Me”.
.
Today’s song was written with love to
all the wonderful members on this
group.
Please do everything possible to be as healthy as you can, in spite of
the circumstances in which you find yourselves.
