Human stem cells converted to functional lung cells

Human skin cells can now be reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells, which are similar to human embryonic stem cells, and then into functional lung and airway cells. Such cells have potential for use in disease modeling, drug screening, the study of lung development, and the generation of lung tissue for transplantation.
